Joanne Collins, founder of Prism BI
About Prism BI

Prism BI was founded by Joanne Collins after 25 years inside businesses, working across operations, materials planning, logistics and finance, and building the reporting their boards relied on.

That background shapes how we work. We start from the decisions a leadership team has to make, then find the data to support them, rather than the other way round. Our clients range from aerospace and automotive suppliers to distributors, retailers and professional services firms.

Prism Portal packages that experience into a product, so a growing business can have board-level intelligence without building a data team first.

The 360° view

Every department gets its own reports. Ask Prism sees them all.

Each team gets dashboards built for the job they do: sales by customer and product, operations by site and shift, finance by cost centre. Underneath, it is all one connected model of the business, so Ask Prism can answer the questions no single report can.

  • Built for each departmentReports in the language each team already uses, with the measures they are judged on.
  • Joined up underneathOne set of customers, products, sites and dates across every system, so the numbers agree.
  • Questions across the lotAsk why margin moved and get an answer that draws on sales, purchasing and operations at once.

Why did gross margin fall last month?

Down 2.4 points, from three departments:

  1. Sales: mix shifted to discounted trade accounts, −1.1 pts.
  2. Purchasing: a 6% supplier price rise not yet passed on, −0.8 pts.
  3. Operations: rework at one site doubled, −0.5 pts.

How Prism is built

AI is only as good as what's underneath it.

Point an AI tool at raw exports and it will answer confidently from figures that don't agree with each other. Prism builds the intelligence in layers, so by the time anyone asks a question, the numbers have already been reconciled, defined and checked.

We build from the bottom up. You use it from the top down.

  1. Layer 4

    AI and automation

Ask Prism answers questions in plain English and explains why a number moved. Automations send the reports, alerts and month-end files without anyone lifting a finger.

    • “Why is margin down?”
    • Scheduled reports
    • Alerts
  2. Layer 3

    Business intelligence

Dashboards, targets and a board pack built on the measures your leadership team agreed, so every meeting starts from the same page.

    • KPIs vs target
    • Drill to detail
    • Board pack
  3. Layer 2

    Data foundation

Your data cleaned, joined and modelled into one version of the truth. Definitions are written down once and checked against your own figures.

    • One definition per measure
    • Scheduled refresh
    • Access by role
  4. Layer 1

    Your systems

The tools you already run. Nothing to replace.

    • ERP
    • EPOS
    • Ecommerce
    • CRM
    • Accounts
    • Spreadsheets

Automations

Your data already knows the answers. Prism tells you before you think to ask.

Reports, alerts and month-end files that run themselves, from the same reconciled data as the dashboards. Each person only receives the figures they are allowed to see, and every send is logged.

Example

Every manager gets their own scorecard

Each site or branch manager receives their own figures against target, and nobody else's. The same data as the board sees, filtered to what each person runs.

Results

The measures move. At any scale.

Results are shown as the change in the measure itself, because that is what carries across to a business of any size. The same methods have been applied inside global aerospace and automotive groups.
